“With the changing workforce, our members have been given extra duties without extra money. When that happens, people are anxious about how they will get ahead. With the Union Education Trust, you can go anywhere you want in the state and learn to do anything, and I think that’s exciting,” King says. “We cover a broad spectrum of things we didn’t before.”
Debra King is a labor market analyst at the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. She served as a union representative on the OCSEA/State of Ohio Workforce Development Steering Committee for several years.
King is the president of OCSEA District 6 in Central Ohio and is a member of local and statewide labor/management committees within her department.
King also is the vice president of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists Columbus Chapter, an executive board member of the Columbus/Franklin County Central Body Labor Council of the AFL-CIO, and a member of the Coalition of Labor Union Women.
