Parks takes the helm at the UET Board

A long-time supporter of continuing education and its role in employment security has become the Union Education Trust Board Chair. OCSEA/AFSCME President Eddie Parks assumed the lead role on the UET Board by virtue of his statewide office election this past summer, but he has played an integral role in the development of the program for many years.

“One of the exciting opportunities I have as president is leading the education trust,” Parks said. “I see the trust as a very valuable benefit for our members.”

Parks has served as a UET Trustee since its inception in 2006. Before that, he was a strong proponent of the Workforce Development program.

“Now that we have the UET, we have the opportunity to shape the program to fit the needs of bargaining unit employees,” Parks said.

Parks previously served as vice president of OCSEA. He is an energy specialist for the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and a member of Franklin Chapter 2500. He has been active in the union for more than 20 years.

His immediate goals as UET Board chair are to maintain the high level of customer service and improve efficiencies such as easy access to UET.

“The UET has already made a name for itself for providing excellent customer service. I look to continuously improve the UET as we go forward,” Parks said.
