Meet Your Trustees: Cynthia Watiker

Meet Your Trustees: Cynthia Watiker

Cynthia Watiker began serving as OCSEA’s Vice President in January 2026 and since has been appointed to serve as a Trustee of the OCSEA Union Education Trust. We welcome Cynthia as we strive for educational greatness that comes with union affiliation.

Prior to becoming Vice President, Cynthia served on the OCSEA State Board of Directors, where she chaired the Future of Work Committee and was a member of both the Finance and Judicial and Internal Affairs (JIAC) committees. Since joining OCSEA/AFSCME Local 11 in 2008, Cynthia has been a passionate advocate for workers’ rights, promoting equitable workplaces, educational prosperity and improved wages and benefits for all union members.

“OCSEA’s Union Education Trust is a valuable and essential tool for growing the labor movement, vital public services and our shared commitment to community,” said Cynthia.

“Educational investment is key to a resilient future for working people and their families and a prosperous labor movement,” said Cynthia. “As a trustee I will strive to promote the union education benefit to the greatest of my ability and to maintain the value and mission of the benefit moving forward,” she said.

Cynthia served as President of Franklin County Job and Family Services Chapter 2508, where she worked as a Customer Service Specialist and negotiated contracts for her chapter. She holds a Communications degree from The Ohio State University and is a graduate of the 2025 Harvard Trade Union Program. She has volunteered as a union member organizer in multiple states and dedicated time to charitable work with Women2Women, a grassroots organization supporting women at risk.
